Jennifer Felicia Abadi wrote this book to preserve the Syrian-Jewish recipes from her family in Aleppo, dishes she grew up eating and feared would be lost over time. It is as much a family memoir as a cookbook, with stories and quotes woven through the recipes alongside line drawings, all rooted in her great-grandmother Esther's kitchen.
